Dutch notes and quotes:
This week's notes and quotes section is devoted solely to the late John Ciampi, and his teammates' comments about him, which aired at halftime on the Fox Sports New York telecast...
Adam Brown: "Every day it's hard that we go out there, and we go to one-on-ones, and John's not dominating like he always does on one-on-ones. It's the toughest thing we've ever been through."
Vaughn Sanders: "He's a great friend-just a person I looked up to. He set the tone for me, and I'm a leader. John would always say, 'Vaughn, you know, you're the coolest person out there.' And I'm like, no, you're the coolest person out there. He made me smile every time I [saw] him."
James Emanuel: "I'll always remember him. He's hard not to remember because he's so big and massive...always playing pranks and crankin' me on the phone. I'll just always remember that stuff-his sense of humor. He was like a big kid."
Mike Rescigno: "For me to even put words into how I'm gonna remember Ciampi is so hard. To describe John would be an injustice because Ciampi was just Ciampi. For me to even try to put him into words wouldn't be fair to him, because he was that unique of an individual. I'll never forget him."
Jimmy Jones: "It'll be real difficult getting out there and looking around at the guys and not seeing John or the number 79 in front of me...that's one of the guys that after a good series on offense I'd go over and give him a hug and tell him how much I appreciated him, and I can't do that anymore."
Giovanni Carmazzi: "John was the essence of Hofstra football. He really was a Hofstra football player. What really sticks in my mind is tough. He was mean when he was out there. He really was a Hofstra football player to me."
